Abstract
This paper presents a Digital Predictive Peak Current Mode controller which uses inductor inductance estimation to estimate the inductor current slopes and to predict the inductor current in both discontinuous and continuous conduction mode. The estimated current slopes are used for controlling the current loop. The proposed controller is implemented in a Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) to control a 450 W buck converter and the experimental results verify excellent inductor inductance estimation and demonstrate the achievement of a very fast digital controller.
