  • Abstract
    This paper proposes a scheme that integrates rate of change of frequency (ROCOF) and under frequency (UF) elements to design more effective load shedding response. A new load block activation algorithm is also introduced that improves the overall load shedding (LS) performance. The combination of ROCOF and UF criteria is used to overcome the LS block discrimination problem and to provide a flexible and decentralised solution to mitigation. The proposed method is verified through simulations on the IEEE 39-bus test system.
