  • Abstract
In this paper, an automatic liquid-filled colour-changing glasses with microfluidic channels is presented to protect human eyes from strong lights. A simple serpentine channel on the colour-changing lens is designed and fabricated with transparent PDMS based on soft lithography technology, and the detailed fabrication process is given in this research. An automatic actuator based on thermo-pneumatic technology is designed and micromachined to drive the colour liquid to circulate in the microfluidic channels. The response characteristics of the colour-changing glasses under different experimental conditions are calculated theoretically and tested by experiments. The automatic liquid colour-changing glasses show faster response characteristics compared to traditional solid colour-changing pattern.
