Abstract
This paper presents the design of Permanent Magnet Synchronous Actuator. The Permanent Magnet Synchronous Actuator is designed for piloting SBW direction. The output of the designed actuator is then coupled with a rotary-to-linear motion transformation organ and applied as a force to the wheel axis to obtain imposed direction and speed. The torque obtained from the finite element simulation under the software FEMM 4.2 environments are used for the determination of the dynamic behavior of the SBW system under Matlab\simulink®. The obtained results meet to requirement of steer-by-wire application.
