Abstract
MAC interference in IEEE 802.11 network is caused by overlapped signal ranges and complex carrier sensing topology. Data throughput and wireless coverage increases by sender´s transmission power in free space and this property identified the transmission power as a standard indication for wireless efficiency; however, increased transmission power also implies longer reachable signal range and higher MAC interference. In this research, we apply the environmental study theory from Cognitive Networks to the optimization of MAC interference in ISM band with data analysis and topology control method, by reusing the spatial resources of wireless coverage to minimize overlapped signal range. High interference in ISM band brings serious efficiency problems to today´s wireless environment, this paper purposes to provide a scientific cognition of MAC interference to optimize the utilization of ISM band.
