Abstract
This paper presents a new many-objective formulation of the Routing and Wavelength Assignment (RWA) problem in wavelength-routed optical WDM networks with protection, considering Quality of Service (QoS). A modification of the Multi-Objective Ant Colony System (MOACS) algorithm is proposed to solve the problem. Experimental results show that the proposed approach is a promising alternative compared to the original MOACS. The proposed algorithm is also compared to a Mixed Integer Linear Programming (MILP) implementation proving the results obtained are pretty closed, with a significant decrease in runtime.
