Abstract
Inter Integrated Circuit (I2C) and Serial Peripheral Interface(SPI) are popular communication interfaces in embedded systems. In recent years, energy consumption has become increasingly important in such systems. This paper describes a theoretical model for the off-chip power consumption of these two popular standards. In addition, the models are validated through experiments on a popular microcontroller.
