Abstract
In this paper, a 3D compact and high-gain UHF RFID tag for indoor blind people navigation is proposed. The passive tag design, operating at the UHF RFID European band, is based on a novel technique approach that allowed increasing the antenna gain without the use of metamaterial structures or thick substrates. The effectiveness of the proposed design approach was demonstrated through good agreement between measured and simulated data. Indeed, the tag exhibits a return loss of about 35dB, a high gain of 3.55dBi, a good efficiency of 86.13%, and a maximum estimated reading range of 21.44m along with a simple design and an overall volume of 98.1×25×30 mm3.
