  • Abstract
Downsampling is a widely spread procedure in audio signal processing. This paper considers the influence of decimation filters on the resulting audio signal. Decimation filters role is suppression of all spectral components higher than one half of the new sampling frequency in order to avoid aliasing. Demands for stopband attenuation of these filters are usually very rigorous. This paper investigates how justified are there requests from psychoacoustic point of view. Basic procedure in such a research is subjective testing. Aside from objective measures, subjective evaluation is one of the key parameters that can describe the characteristics of given audio signal processing. The results of testing different filters on perceptibility of aliased components are presented in this paper.
