  • Abstract
    In order to improve the detection accuracy of the Ultra High Frequency (UHF) method for the actual transformer partial discharge detection, Finite Difference Time Domain (FDTD) method is used to simulate the propagation progress of UHF signals excited by partial discharge in the power transformer. A simulation model of an actual single phase power transformer is established and an actual excitation source is added into the model. The receiving signals are analyzed in time domain and frequency domain. The results show that the complicated structures of the power transformer attenuate UHF signals and the higher the frequency, the greater the attenuation.
