Abstract
In this paper, a method of suppressing pulsations of compensation voltage of a voltage sag/swell compensator utilizing single-phase matrix converter is proposed. First, system configuration of proposed system and its operation are described. Next, the power loss in a damping resistor in output LC filter and the effect of the damping resistor on suppressing pulsation of compensation voltage are analyzed with transfer function. Furthermore, the effect of the output filter inductor current feedback on suppressing pulsation is also analyzed with transfer function. Finally, in the proposed system, suppressing effects are compared between two cases. One is the case connecting the damping resistor in series with the output filter capacitor and the other case using output filter inductor current feedback. As a result, experimental results demonstrate that the damping resistor has superior effect of suppressing pulsation to the output filter inductor current feedback.
