Abstract
The hydrostatic transmission system is widely used in mobile construction equipment for power transmission. A comprehensive failure knowledge is necessary to maintain and improve this critical system. A systematic failure analysis of the hydrostatic system is presented in this work, which maps failure mechanisms and root causes of failures into appropriate physics of failure models of most critical components. Finally, the usefulness of knowledge generated through failure analysis process is recommended in improving product design and other operations such as, warranty and maintenance management.
