Abstract
Multi-hop relay network systems are expected to extend the coverage area and improve data transmission rate by deploying some relay stations. Relay selection is one of the most important features for the portable devices to obtain a quality-of-service (QoS) guarantee in such environments. In order to provide reasonable QoS guarantees for multi-hop relay network systems, efficient relay selection scheme cand corresponding algorithm must be developed and designed. A novel relay selection scheme is proposed in this paper to choose the suitable connection links by taking into account the traffic demand of mobile station and the signal-to-noise ratio among the mobile station, the relay station, and the base station. The main idea of this scheme is to avoid the unnecessary detour for the mobile station in the wireless mobile communication networks. The network throughput is extended by balancing the network loading. Based on the existing network conditions, the proposed scheme makes an adaptive decision for the relay selection in the systems. Simulation results indicate the superior performance of our propose algorithm to strike the appropriate performance in the network throughput and the data transmission time for a multi-hop relay network system.
