Keynote 1 - From data to information to flow

We live in a time of Data, from Big Data to data protection, from data sharing to extracting information from data. In this talk I will present a perspective on computing by focusing on the flow of information through better understanding of data. The resulting dataflow computing paradigm can be efficiently implemented on a variety of flexible hardware substrates combined with massive amounts of memory. Dataflow computing can reside at the compute node, within the network, or at the storage nodes. In any case, computation and the transformation of data go hand in hand to arrive at a decision or visualization in minimum time, with minimum energy, at the highest possible throughput, or within the smallest possible space.
