  • Abstract
Selection strategies between multi-power sources are of great importance especially when some of the sources are renewable. In this paper, a selection technique is proposed and described based on fuzzy inference system. A multi-stage fuzzy inference system is proposed for three power sources to reduce computation complexity. The multi-stage fuzzy inference system is adopted in this paper to determine the power source to operate an electrical load (pump) from a hybrid renewable energy source (wind and solar) or a battery back depending upon the availability of the power source(s). Determination of the power source depends upon the wind speed, solar intensity and battery charge percentage. The target is to keep a continuous power flow to the pump giving the highest priority to the renewable sources.
