Abstract
Presents an FSM model for. programmable protocol processors. It removes the branch instruction penalty and thus it is suitable for control intensive protocol processing. Compared to the CAM based FSM model this model improves state memory access speed by half and reduces state memory cost by around 8.5%. Also, state memory utilization in the model is improved to 100%
