  • Abstract
    Smart substation and communication technology have a tremendous development, making the grid to coordinate and optimize a wide range of data possible, thus providing a higher level of centralization foundation for the protection and control functions. Therefore, the direction of future´s protection is based on the high-performance computer technology and advanced communication networks. To this end, this thesis proposes the concept of "Protection Intelligent Center". The center in the distribution network can take over the main functions of protection of several substations. Protection Intelligent Center of distribution network side aims at high voltage distribution network, bases on the high-speed and reliable communication networks and international standards of the time synchronization. This paper based on distribution network Protection Intelligent Center of Liaoning Electric Power Supply CO, LTD. Through integration of panoramic information of regional power grid, and exploration and practice of centralized protection and control system, which is a bold attempt for the development of new generation intelligent substation.
