  • Abstract
In order to investigate the magnetic property of material for scaled-down experiments on electric machines, numerical modeling on the power and loss densities of scaled-down laminated cores is studied in this paper. To reduce computational cost, the laminated core is modeled combining a 3D solid core analysis with a 1D steel plate analysis The hysteresis loss, eddy current loss, iron loss and power density of the laminated core are calculated using the electromagnetic field distribution result from the finite element analysis. The relationship between the increment of the power density and iron loss density versus the coil current density and frequency are investigated. The proposed method can be used to design and optimize the scaled-down electromagnetic devices with laminated cores.
