Dehydration prevention and effective support for the elderly by the use of smartwatches

Smartwatches open up new possibilities for supporting elderly people to stay in their familiar home as long as possible in a safe and self-determined way, even in the presence of MCI and/or beginning dementia. A new approach for preventing dehydration of elderly is presented, utilizing sensor information patterns derived from the movement analysis acquired by a smartwatch to detect liquid ingestion.
