  • Abstract
In this study, an embedded system based on Fuzzy-Logic Control (FLC) method has been developed to improve the accuracy and reactivity of a dual-axis tracking system, in order to increase the output power of panel and minimize the inertia on the dc motor. Linguistic system definitions of FLC are converted into control rules based algorithm and then implemented on PIC Microcontroller 18F4550 to monitor the tracking system along the azimuth axis and the elevation axis during either sunny or cloudy day. Besides using the usual four light dependent resistors LDRs for the detection of the sun position, the instructions of rules saved on PIC are called to monitor precisely the tracking. In the case of cloudy days, an alternative approach based on astronomical equations and data has been implemented in the algorithm instead of sensors of light to track the sun.
