Abstract
In this paper, a differential-fed circularly polarized (CP) onchip antenna based on 0.18-um technology with artificial magnetic conductor (AMC) structure is presented for 60GHz wireless communication applications. Compared with the traditional single-fed antenna, the antenna with differential feeding architecture is better for integration with chip or system. To enhance the gain performance, the Jerusalem cross shape AMC structure is employed under the differential-fed CP antenna. The size of the proposed differential-fed CP antenna is 1.5×1.5×0.3 mm3. The proposed antenna has a simulated operating bandwidth with common 10dB impedance and 3-dB axial ratio bandwidth is 9.1% with respect to the centre frequency of 60.25 GHz from 57.5 GHz to 63 GHz. The simulated gain of the proposed antenna is -3.2 dBi at 60 GHz.
