  • Abstract
    In this paper, the image sharpening methods using discrete Fourier transform (DFT) based matrix fractional order differentiator (MFOD) are presented. The design of fractional order differentiator (FOD) is first reviewed and the design method of DFT-based MFOD is described. Then, two image sharpening methods are studied. One method is based on Mach band effect, the other approach uses Laplacian operator. Finally, several examples are demonstrated to show the effectiveness of the proposed DFT-based MFOD method.
