Abstract
Oil impregnated creped kraft electrical insulating paper has electrical, mechanical and other characteristics which encourage its use in certain areas of oil immersed electrical insulation structures. While such applications are not necessarily novel, this paper presents the theoretical background and provides dielectric performance data for typical crepe paper insulation structures up to about 150 KV BIL. Specific dielectric performance data of these structures are presented as a function of the number of layers of creped paper and of the amount or degree of creping. Associated or resulting product design, product reliability, and other benefits are reviewed.
