Abstract
The day ahead unit commitment (UC) problem is one of the biggest challenges of power system operation as it requires not only the demand of fulfilling the system constraints but also in most economical way. Adding uncertainty of renewable energy sources make it more difficult to handle. Because of the uncertain nature of Wind Energy Generator (WEG), some risk factors has been added in the solution process. So, solving UC with plants like WEG has become a vital topic of research in present days. A strategy of solving such problems is presented in this paper with having the objective of minimizing the cost and handling risks introduced due to WEGs. As a specialized formulation technique of uncertain optimization problem, Fuzzy optimization technique has been chosen and the problem has been formulated in Mixed Integer Linear Programming (MILP) technique.
