Selection of critical segmentation-a prerequisite for object based image classification

Object based image analysis is suitable for medium and high resolution remote sensing images. The crucial step in object based classification is image segmentation. Problem of over-and-under segmentation occurs due to improper selection of segmentation parameters. Classification is applied over the segmented image, thus selection of properly segmented image for an application is the basic prerequisite for a quality classified image.
