Abstract
Research on target´s bistatic radar cross section (RCS) is attracting more and more attention nowadays. As the most widely used calibration object, understanding sphere´s scattering characteristic will make sense in bistatic RCS measurement. In this paper, the bistatic scattering mechanism is analysed first. On this basis, we discuss sphere´s scattering characteristic in both frequency and bistatic angle domain. Finally, a simplified Mie series is deduced to calculate the forward RCS of metal sphere and is validated via experiment data. Some interesting results are also introduced.
