Abstract
An extended Modified Equivalent Current Approximation (MECA) is presented for treating the electromagnetic (EM) scattering from pure dielectric or low lossy materials. MECA method only considers the reflected waves, and ignores the refracted waves which are traced inside the dielectric object and then traced outside. The extended MECA method formulates the equivalent electric and magnetic currents induced by the refracted waves, which are supposed to have exponential amplitude variation and linear phase variation on the planar triangular facets. The proposed method is validated by simulation results.
