Abstract
Distributed call admission control has been proposed for wireless/mobile high-speed networks. Preliminary studies showed that the proposal has better performance results when compared to the trunk reservation method. The primary assumption is that the traffic simulated is of uniform nature. In reality, such is not the case. Multimedia applications are expanding and future wireless/mobile networks should be designed to take into account the different traffic classes, and guarantee their quality-of-services (QoS) requirements, such as handover dropping probability and new call blocking probability that are essential as they measure the performance of a wireless network. We considered different traffic classes in a multimedia environment and their impact on QoS metrics. User mobility is also another important factor that will affect the performance of our wireless/mobile network.
