Abstract
In this paper, a new TDMA/TDD MAC protocol is developed based on IETF Integrated Service (IntServ) model for wireless multimedia LAN. In this protocol, a simple but effective connection admission control (CAC) scheme is used to admit a guaranteed or controlled-load service connection. A hierarchical scheduling scheme is proposed to allocate time slots for admitted controlled-load connections and packets of best effort services on a frame-by-frame basis. Thus, time slots are utilized efficiently. Simulation is carried out to evaluate the performance of the MAC protocol.
