Abstract
Shows that a multilevel and multidisciplinary approach to modeling is desirable for efficient control design. The paper advocates virtual prototyping of multidisciplinary systems based on the multipole approach implemented in the simulation package DYNAST accessible across the Internet. It is supported by a Web-based course on multipole modeling. The multipole models can be submitted to DYNAST in a graphical form isomorphic with the real system structure. The multipole models can be freely combined with block diagrams and sets of algebro-differential equations. DYNAST allows for numerical analysis of nonlinear dynamic models as well as for semisymbolic analysis of linearized models, both in time and frequency domains. Thus, DYNAST supports systematic and global control-design methodologies for multidisciplinary systems. In this role, it can be also used across the Internet as a modeling toolbox within the MATLAB control-design toolset.
