Abstract
An analysis and experimental results are given for a Class E resonant low dv/dt rectifier with a series resonant capacitor. The circuit contains two resonant components: a capacitor and an inductor. It is driven by a sinusoidal voltage source whose amplitude must be controlled to obtain a constant-voltage output. The rectifier exhibits a peculiar behavior because its equivalent input reactance changes discontinuously from inductive to capacitive when the load varies from infinity to zero. Design equations are derived using Fourier series techniques. The theory is compared with experimental results obtained for the rectifier operating at 1 MHz ac input and 5 V dc output.
