Abstract
The National Industrial Technology Strategy of Japan for the next decade was introduced. The power electronics technology is expected as the basis for future developments in various fields according to the strategy. Practical examples of the developments in the advanced power supply networks and the energy saving technology are explained regarding the requirements for the power electronics. The technical program supported by the government would establish the necessary basis for these developments in future as well as efforts in industries themselves following the targets given in the strategies
