An important leadership quality is the ability to recognize and respond to contextual changes as opposed to situational changes. This quality is especially important given that a new breed of customers has begun to change the very foundation of how business is done. Today´s leaders need to make their organizations agile enough to ensure that they are resilient to contextual change. This paper introduces a new leadership proposition called connected leadership, defined as the ability to channel the vitality of the real organization towards the delivery of the formal organization´s objectives. By understanding the characteristics of connected leaders and developing them, not only is the real organization developed and cultivated, but leaders will be able to perform more effectively to benefit their organization and themselves
