Abstract
A new method for multistate reflectometer (MSR) calibration was developed. All the previous methods calibrated each state separately. The new method treats all the states as a whole and this is what can reduce the number of standards to only 3. A drawback is that several additional impedances must be connected, but they are treated as unknowns - they are computed. It means that only the standards define the reference plane position. So far, an experiment has been performed only for sound frequencies, but it yielded results that assure good performance at much higher frequencies. The method is even capable of compensating detector nonlinearities, as simulation promised.
