Abstract
The HIPERLAN type 2 (high performance radio local area network) standard provides means for link adaptation (LA) and transmit power control (TPC). The two mechanisms are not independent in a cellular network environment. The paper analyses the basic requirements for joint LA and TPC and proposes a suitable algorithm which is based on the empty part in MAC frames. The implementation in a simulator and simulation results are presented.
