Abstract
The efficiency of wavelength utilization of two failure protection methods in wavelength-routed optical networks: rerouting and reconfiguration, is investigated. Wavelength reusability ρ, is introduced as an evaluation criteria. Routing and wavelength assignment (RWA) problem for failure protection is formulated as integer linear programming (ILP) equations, heuristic algorithms are also developed and detailed numerical results are presented and discussed.
