A generalized predictive control benchmark index for SISO systems

The application of control loop performance assessment and benchmarking techniques to industrial control loops is considered. A normalized performance index Ψ(HP) that characterizes the performance of feedback control schemes against a generalized predictive control standard is introduced. The theoretical problem considered is how to obtain a measure that would allow us to judge the performance of predictive controllers as well as compare the performance of non predictive controllers against the generalized predictive control standard.
