Abstract
Equalization techniques which do not have knowledge of the input signals are said to be blind. The proposed method uses the 4th-order cumulant in order to smooth out Gaussian noise. Since the cost function with higher order statistics (HOS) has local minima, we also propose to use a simplex-GA to minimize the cost function. Finally, we use an MLSE equalizer to restore the input signals.
