Abstract
A novel method for the single shot mapping of the two-dimensional state of polarization (SOP) of light is presented. Four birefringent prisms are incorporated into the polarimeter so that the interference pattern carrying the information of the SOP is generated. No mechanically movable components are used, and all the Stokes parameters can be determined at once from only the single interference pattern.
