Abstract
This study employs a direct Maxwell´s equations solver based on a pseudo-spectral time-domain (PSTD) method to numerically investigate second harmonic generation (SHG) processes in nonlinear photonic crystals (NPCs). Compared to a standard finite-difference time-domain technique, the implemented fourth-order-accurate-in-time PSTD algorithm offers significant improvements in computational efficiency and accuracy for modeling phase-sensitive electromagnetic wave interactions in nonlinear optical materials.
