  • Abstract
With the proliferation of sensitive electronic loads, electric power engineers and customers have paid more and more attention to power quality. Capacitor switching which brings transient disturbance is a common power quality event. This paper uses sampled voltage and current waveforms, based-on the disturbance power and Parseval´s theorem, the energy of three-phase instantaneous power is calculated using wavelet transform. With the information of the polarity of energy change during the disturbance, and the polarity of the initial peak of the disturbance power, a new criterion is proposed, which can determine the relative location of the capacitor switching. Simulation results confirm the effectiveness of this method.
