Abstract
The electromagnetic forces and stresses are calculated while taking into account the axial current component in large power transformers. The 3D electromagnetic field and circuit coupled method based on the A-V-A is employed for studying the 3D transient fields and the corresponding electromagnetic forces acting on the coil. The torsional deflections of low-voltage helical windings are analyzed for the first time.
