  • Abstract
    In the 21st century the mankind entered a new era called the era of global information society (GIS). The distinct feature of GIS is that knowledge and information become the most important factors of production, form the material basis for the society existence. The new sectors appear specializing in using high technologies, which are primarily presented by the creation of information products (including software) and their effective distribution within the infocommunication environment. To ensure the effective transmission and distribution of information, the structure of GIS includes Worldwide Communication Network, which is an aggregate of all mutually connected national communication networks of the world, and it is still developing. The technical basis for any modern communication network is provided by the information transport networks intended for high-quality and faultless (uninterrupted) transmission of information in the form of standard or normalized data streams from the sender to the recipient.
