Abstract
In this paper, we proposed an OAM scheme for optical burst switching (OBS) networks. 08s has the specialized characteristics using BHPs and DBs which are divided from user data and transmitted with time interval, and transmitted these bursts with one-way reservation. It cannot guarantee the end-to-end connectivity and provide the solution for the problems caused by malfunctions between BHPs and DBs due to one-way reservation scheme. Therefore, we proposed an OAM scheme for OBS network, which can verify the optical links, check the network states, and check the function of OBS bursts composed of DBs and BHPs with each wavelength. The OAM structure, the functions, the procedures for OAM packets, and packet formats in OBS are also proposed.
