Abstract
A novel low-profile planar coupled line meander antenna for dual-band operation is presented. The design is based on the meandered line principle, with a coupled line to achieve two different radiation modes for GSM and DCS applications. Because of the effect of the coupled line, the total dimension of the proposed antenna is greatly reduced. With a compact size of 14×17 mm2, this prototype is suitable for system-in-a-package (SIP) applications. The antenna is fabricated on a Rogers Corp. TMM4 substrate with a relative permittivity of 4.50. The experimental results have good agreement with the simulated data.
