Abstract
Estimation of the time delay between the process input and output variables is converted to an optimization problem. Two global optimization methods, tabu search and simulated annealing, are developed and compared to estimate the time delay. It has been proved that the tabu search, with better performance than the simulated annealing, is efficient in dealing with the time delay estimation problems.
