Abstract
This paper looks into new generation power supplies for applications in future telecom and computer systems. Firstly, it gives a brief review of some major trends in semiconductor technology, the new power requirements of cutting-edge semiconductor devices and their impacts on advanced telecom and computer systems. Then, it examines the limitations and technical barrier of conventional power solutions for the said applications. Finally, it investigates the desired features of new generation power supplies and possible solutions to achieve these features. Some pioneering work in this area is reviewed, and directions for future research & development are suggested
