Abstract
In CDMA systems, it is extremely important to be able to control the power transmitted by various user terminals to within very tight limits of their respective allocated power levels. However, in practice due to various uncertainties such as the variations in link margin and channel fading, the accuracy achievable in the power control is limited. This paper presents mathematical models for the self interference in the CDMA system due to such power level variations and its impact on the capacity of the CDMA system wherein multiple user classes are involved which have different energy per bit to total noise power spectral density (Eb/N0t) requirements.
