Abstract
This paper presents a method that combines two different levels of simulation analyses in order to study the performance of 3GPP FDD WCDMA with smart antennas. First, link level simulations characterize the performance of the air interface in terms of the Eb/No versus BER/BLER in a detailed but also complex and time consuming manner. Then system level simulations study the performance of a multitier cellular system using the results from the link level simulations in an adaptive manner.
