Abstract
This paper presents a semiconductor balanced inductor for differentially driven systems, which reduces expensive circuit area by approximately 27 % and also achieves a Q-enhancement of over 25 %. The theoretical description for both the differential and the common modes are presented. Following 3D- EM simulations a differential 90" phase shifter at 2 GHz is designed and fabricated on the P7MI process of Infineon Technologies. Both the simulation and experimental results of the first wafer run are presented, showing an excellent agreement. The insertion loss of the phase shifter is as low as 0.7 dB at 2 GHz
